Theme for English B
The poem I’m considering is Theme for English B. He talks specifically about a class assignment that the instructor insists to let it come out of you for it to be true to yourself. He talks about how he was the only colored person and really him being colored in the school he attends is the literal meaning of the poem. He is the only one in the class and living in Harlem. Classmates probably expect him to not like the same things they do like the same music and the same interests. He means a lot when he talks about the paper being white, his skin color being colored, and the professor being white. It intensifies the idea of him being colored but that not meaning that he is not like everyone elseĀ in his classes or city. And his paper being on paper which is white proves that he is just like anyone else and no one really should judge on the color of a persons skin.

Blog Entry #2 – Poem
This poem by Jessica Richards holds true to a lot of things in my life that has happened in the past year. The stanzas that really stand out to me that get me to like the poem the most is stanza three, “it’s funny how forever never seems to last” the words forever are always thrown around with it never actually being forever. Stanza five also holds true to me “it’s funny how good friends can just leave you when your down”, I experienced this last year once all my friends went off to college in different towns and I really never head from them again in my times of need. Stanza eight is another one “it’s funny how many lies are packed into one love letter” This is the best part of the poem to me because this has not only happened once to me but multiple times and although it may not have always been in the form of a love letter, it still occurred in some other form. It really is ironic how all these incidents can seem funny in the way that it is not even funny in the comical sense but in the sense of reality in life. I like it how it flows and the rhyming technique is used very simply to get the point of life being “funny” in a not so much way.

About Me
I’m not new to blogging, I have done it in the past and I find it enjoyable. I also enjoy writing for the fun of it, it may sound crazy but it’s true. I graduated in the Class of 2008 and I’m still undecided on a major, although I do have a few in mind possibly a degree in Communications and/or Journalism, but as I said I’m still not sure on that. As of now I’m unemployed and a full time student here at San Jacinto South.
